Bird Spikes
Bird Spikes are an effective bird control solution for ledges, parapet walls, roof peaks, chimneys, and more. They come in a number of materials such as polycarbonate, aluminum, galvanized steel, and stainless steel. Stainless Steel bird spikes are preferred for their life span and resistance to rust and breaking down. The spikes often come in three foot sections. The bases can be cut into any size length that is needed. The bases can be screwed down or glued down with industrial strength adhesive. Spikes typically come in three different widths; Narrow, Wide, and Extra-Wide. Narrow spikes are usually 3″ wide. Wide spikes are usually 5″ wide. Extra-Wide spikes are usually 7″ wide. Each width of spike can be bent to make them slightly wider or narrower if needed. The bases are flexible allowing the bases to conform along a curved platform.

Applications
Bird Spikes are species specific. They are designed for Pigeons and larger birds. Smaller birds, such as House Sparrows, can land on the individual spike rods to roost. They can also build nests using the rods as support for the nesting material. Most Bird Spikes have blunt tips so that they do not impale the birds. This makes them a humane method of bird control. Stainless Steel spikes will last for 10 years or more if installed correctly. Polycarbonate spikes are less than desirable in Florida due to their short life span. The year round high heat and sun light break down the plastic in cause them to become brittle and crack. Two rows of spikes must be installed to protect a wall ledge that is greater than 10″ in width. Spikes can also be installed on top of pipes, air ducts, conduits, pool screen enclosures, and more.
